Manuel Morell Agra was awarded the third class white cross of Military Merit according to royal order of March 10, 1899. He was born on May 23, 1847 and began to serve as a corps cadet on June 26, 1862, studying in the Bailén, América and León Infantry regiments. Promoted by regulation to the position of second lieutenant of Infantry in February 1866, he was assigned to the Provincial battalion of Vich, transferring in October to the regiment of the Princess. On May 16, he was wounded in the Zubilaga action, giving him the rank of captain. In Valencia during the cantonal events of July 26 of the year, he later formed part of the besieging army of said square, which he entered on August 8, and later operated in the Center against the Carlists.
