Translation of: Alexis-François Artaud De Montor (born in Paris, July 31, 1772, and died in Paris, November 12, 1849) was a diplomat and historian. An émigré during the French Revolution, he was charged by the king's sons with missions to the Holy See and served during the Champagne campaign in Condé's army. Napoleon Bonaparte made him secretary of the French Legation in Rome.
